PROJECT NAME: REFINERY TRAINING INSTITUTE PURPOSE
The Training Institute, which would be equipped to meet the status of university, will serve as an incubation center, where developers and industry experts from Nigeria and abroad will train potential candidates for various management positions and responsibilities. The training institute will be equipped to act as a support infrastructure to help standardise all levels of operations, management, and technical requisites needed to operate an ultra-modern oil refinery.
LOCATION:
The training institute will be situated at ISAMPOU, a town near the refinery, and as an effort bring development to Isampou and other communities around the region. The program will encourage collaboration with Nigerian universities, especially Petro-Chemical faculties with the goal creating information and knowledge exchange.
LABOR AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To reach an operational stage, about 18 months of intense construction work will be needed. The complex will include course halls, classrooms and laboratories, and it would have a surface area of 8000m2. An estimated 40 instructors and 80 auxiliary trainers would be deployed to give courses in installations, engineering, management, and other refinery-related subjects. Other faculties will offer hydraulics, electricity, IT, and communication subjects. The institute is expected to train 180 specialists for the Refinery and an additional 40 staff specialized in other activities outside the refinery. The institute will reserve 25% of its training time for non-employee candidates. All the petro-chemical faculties of the institution would receive advance training instructions to enable them to meet all the expertise needs of the refinery, and its material components. Preliminary maintenance courses will help maximize understanding of each unit. Spare parts & stock taking courses will also be incorporated into the training program. Administrative, management, commercial, and public relations courses will be prioritized. Course regulations and requirements will be strictly adhered to. Tonwei is considering inclusion of courses relating to photography, cinema, television, and historical records saving archives, and remain open to new ideas and discoveries.
